Do I need experience to join?
Not at all.
Many of our athletes begin with no wrestling experience. Our Beginner Program is specifically designed to teach the fundamentals in a structured, encouraging environment while establishing the habits that lead to long-term success.
Can I watch a practice before joining?
Absolutely.
In fact, we encourage it. The best way to determine whether Diamond State Inferno is the right fit for your family is to experience our coaching style, culture, and expectations firsthand before making a commitment.
What should my child bring to practice?
To ensure a safe and productive practice, athletes should bring:
·Wrestling-appropriate clothing
·Wrestling shoes (required)
·Plenty of water
·Any prescribed inhalers or medications
·Properly fitted headgear
·Any braces or protective equipment needed to prevent injury
·A mouthguard (recommended for all athletes and required for athletes with braces)
·A positive attitude, a willingness to listen, and a commitment to work hard
Being prepared allows athletes to train safely, focus on learning, and get the most out of every practice.
Do I need a USA Wrestling Membership?
Yes.
All athletes participating in practices or competitions are required to have a current USA Wrestling Athlete Membership for insurance purposes.
Do you compete in tournaments?
Yes.
Our athletes compete throughout the year at local, regional, state, and national tournaments. While competition is encouraged, participation is always the decision of the athlete and their family.
Does everyone make tournament teams?
Not always.
Many dual meet tournaments have limited roster spots. Team selections are based on factors such as attendance, work ethic, attitude, commitment, coachability, ability, and what is in the best interest of the team. Our responsibility is to put every athlete in the best position to develop while giving our teams the greatest opportunity for success.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes.
Private and small group lessons are available by appointment. These sessions provide individualized instruction tailored to each athlete's goals and are an excellent supplement to regular practice.
Can parents watch practice?
Parents are always welcome to observe our Beginner Program.
Parent policies for the Intermediate and Advanced Programs may vary depending on the practice and training objectives. Our goal is to create an environment where athletes develop independence, focus, accountability, and confidence while minimizing unnecessary distractions.
Why do you discourage parents from attending Intermediate and Advanced practices?
Our goal is to create an environment where athletes develop not only as wrestlers, but also as confident, independent young men and women.
As athletes progress into our Intermediate and Advanced Programs, we encourage parents to drop off their children and allow them to fully immerse themselves in practice. While we appreciate the incredible support our families provide, we've found that athletes often learn and develop more effectively when they're able to focus solely on their coaches and training partners.
This approach helps:
·Improve focus and eliminate unnecessary distractions.
·Develop independence and personal accountability.
·Eliminate conflicting instruction from multiple voices.
·Encourage athletes to take risks, make mistakes, and learn without feeling self-conscious.
·Increase the pace and efficiency of practice.
This philosophy isn't unique to Diamond State Inferno. Many of the nation's most successful wrestling clubs and training centers limit or prohibit parents from attending advanced practices because they've seen the positive impact it has on athlete development.
Parents remain an essential part of our program. Our goal isn't to exclude families—it's to provide athletes with the best possible environment to grow, compete, and reach their full potential.
Why do you prohibit video recording during practice?
Our priority is creating the best possible learning environment for every athlete.
Practices are designed to be a place where wrestlers can experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, and improve without feeling like every moment is being recorded. We want athletes focused on learning—not worrying about a camera.
Our no-recording policy helps us:
·Protect the privacy of every athlete and family.
·Eliminate distractions during practice.
·Respect the years of coaching experience and system development invested in our instruction.
·Create an environment where athletes feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
We simply ask that everyone respects this policy so we can provide the best possible training environment for every wrestler.
Why don't you separate practices strictly by age?
Because age doesn't determine ability.
Our athletes are grouped according to their experience, technical proficiency, maturity, and readiness. This creates a better learning environment where every wrestler is appropriately challenged and continues to improve.
Why do you emphasize drilling so much?
Championship performances aren't created during matches—they're created through thousands of purposeful repetitions.
Our philosophy is simple:
Drillers make killers.
The more correctly an athlete performs a skill in practice, the more instinctive that skill becomes under pressure. When competition begins, athletes shouldn't have to think—they should simply react.
Why do your athletes wrestle partners who are better than they are?
Because growth happens outside of your comfort zone.
Training with stronger, more skilled partners exposes athletes to higher-level wrestling every day. While it's challenging, it accelerates learning, builds confidence, and prepares wrestlers to compete against the best.
Iron sharpens iron.
What does "The Standard Is Growth" mean?
It means every athlete is expected to improve.
Success isn't measured solely by wins and losses. We evaluate effort, discipline, consistency, attitude, coachability, and the willingness to embrace challenges. If an athlete leaves our room better than they were yesterday, we've accomplished our mission.
What makes Diamond State Inferno different?
Everything begins with our culture.
Every practice has a purpose.
Every drill has intent.
Every athlete is held accountable.
Rather than simply teaching moves, we teach complete wrestling systems while developing discipline, confidence, mental toughness, and a relentless work ethic. Our goal isn't simply to win matches—it's to develop successful wrestlers and outstanding young men and women.
Is Diamond State Inferno the right fit for every family?
No.
We're proud to maintain high standards and high expectations. Our program is designed for families who value discipline, accountability, consistency, and long-term development.
